The label is designed as a ‘From To’ card – fill in the names and put the bottle under the Christmas tree. The perfect gift for the lazy man/woman…! Ingredients : Water, malt (pale, smoked, cara-crystal, brown and chocolate), roasted barley, dark cassonade, hops (amarillo, saaz and cascade), spices (star anise, clove, cinnamon and coriander seeds) and yeast.

750 ml corked (plastic) and wired "champagne" bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.0%. Black colour, huge brown head. Nice roasty aroma, notes of coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice, hints of smoke, tar and spices. Smooth mouthfeel, but lots of flavour: roasted barley (but not too much), coffee, liquorice and dark bitter chocolate, some smokiness, hints of spices, distinct hops in the finish and the dry aftertaste.

Pours an opaque sable with a thick, fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma is smoky with strong tones of coffee and unsweetened chocolate - very mouth-watering. Rich flavor is like mocha with a hoppy undertone and hints of smoke, sweetness, molasses, toffee and spice. Ragged, lively, tingly texture is a great finish to this winner of a beer.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a large off-white head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of chocolate malt is dominating with light spices also noticeable. Taste is dominated by creamy 60% cacao chocolate with a light spicy finish though I didn’t find as much spices as per beer description. Body has a very nice creamy texture with limited filtration and good carbonation. Very well done and something I would drink more often if it was available in my neighbourhood.

Bottled. Pitch black colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is lots spices, some nuttyness, licorice and also some alcohol. Flavour is spices, coffee, roasted malts, some sweet licorice and mild notes of alcohol. A bit unbalanced, otherwise very nice.

Pours out in a black colour with grey edges, topped with a rich and thick beige foam. Anise, wormwood and burnt malts in the aroma. Full-bodied with dense notes of dark chocolate along with burnt malts with edgy spicy notes of of anise-seeds, coriander and mild cardamom. Long burnt chocolaty finish with strong notes f coriander
