German brewers have a saying about wheat beers: “Weiss Bier - Sheiss Bier.” which needs no translation. This is not because they don’t like it, but because it is one of the most difficult and temperamental beers to brew, with the pronounced toffee and banana notes all coming from its special yeast; not from added spices as in Belgian wheat beers A cloudy, golden-orange beer with a moderately dense white head displaying a mixed combination of banana, fruit, bubblegum, spice and zesty aromas and flavours, all created, in true Bavarian wheat beer style, by the use of a unique yeast strain that brings out the true character of the wheat malt used in the brew.

330 ml bottle, bought at Peckham’s, Glasgow. ABV is 6.3%. Sediment in bottle. Pours nearly clear golden, just a slight haze. Large to moderate white head. Typical wheaty strong aroma with banana, citrus and cloves, possibly some aromatic hops too. The flavour is also wheaty and fruity with cloves, slightly spicier than many German hefeweizens. The mouthfeel somehow seems slightly different from the Germans too, maybe fizzier and more lagerish? The ABV is also higher. Still, this is a very enjoyable wheat beer, easily drinkable and refreshing for its strength.

Hazy yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is wheat, caramel, wood and some spices. Flavour is slightly acidic citrus along with wheat and spices. Some banana in it also, but not very much.

Hazy orange colour with a small sticky white head. Banana and oranges in aroma. FRlavour of banana, oranges, yeast and with an accent of hops. Rather dry finish. Pretty good Hefe.
