it does have a nice flavor and a creamy texture, but calling it an imperial is a bit of a stretch. judged as a straight stout, though, it's very good. well balanced and flavorful.

Pours black with a thin dark tan head. Aroma of charcoal, burnt coffee, grass, and smoke. Flavor starts dry and roasty, some coffee and bitter chocolate, hints of molasses here and there as well as some light cream, then finishes out a little grassy and very roasty. A little thin on mouthfeel for my liking, and way too dry. Could use a bit of sweetness and body to balance the roasted flavors.

A very nice stout. Pours very dark with a thick head. Head disapates to a nice brew. Flavor is very good with a strong smoked texture. Aroma is very sweet. Mouthfeel is smooth with a nice aftertaste.

Shared a bottle of this with my family at my brothers while celebrating Chistmas a few days early. This is one easy drinking stout. It looks good, smells good and tastes good. Nothing wrong with that. Pours out a jet black body with a nice, thick tan head. The aroma's biggest character is the roast coffee. Tons of roast in this, along with some toffee and dark chocolate but it was kinda hard to tell because of the strength of the roast aroma. Flavors were very strong at first and then it sort of mellowed out on the back end of things. Roasted malts, sweet, a bit of dark chocolate but I thought the overall finish was a little lacking. Plus, the body was a little watery also. I like to have my stouts have a little more substance, but this still wasn't bad. Easy drinking for sure.

Very black. Mahogany shows through only around the extreme edges. The head is a light chocolate milkshake foam that doesn't fade completely. Roasty aroma with good hop backing. The flavor is dry up from, hop bitterness mingles with the bittereness of burned toast in the middle followed by a light chocolate sweetness in the finish. The body was far from thin, but in comparison to stouts of a similar size it was definitely on the thinner side. Good carbonation though.

Very dark black color, large tan head. Chocolate roasted malt aroma. Big-bodied stout. Deep rich roasted malts. Creamy texture, rich chocolate malts, with a touch of fruit. A little sweet. There is a slight hop bite. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and slightly dry. Finish is slightly bitter and a little malty,

San Quentin pours jet black with a huge brown head. The aroma reminds you of chocolate chip cookie dough. In my opinion, the mouthfeel is a bit thin for an Imperial Stout. It does have the roasty/chocolatey/coffee-like flavors, but none of them is too prevalent. In fact, my criticism of this beer is that it isn't Big enough. That being said, for someone new to Imperials, this would be a good 'starter'.

Poured an opaque black color with a medium sized tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of dried fruits, chocolate, roast, and a little bit of peanuts. Taste of more roast and chocolate, some cherries as well with a soft mouthfeel.

Chocolate, coffee, thus the usual with a stout, but I can honestly say that I enjoyed this brew. Immpressive for my first of the marin brews. I look forward to indulging on many more.
