An ode to the Owens Valley and the Highway 395 corridor, this Double IPA is distinctly bolder than out Epic IPA and celebrates the aromas of wild local fresh hops, sage, and juniper

An interesting twist on the IPA with sage and juniper, but a bit over-powering personally. The juniper almost gives it a gin-like aroma over the citrusy hops. I like the piney-resin in a bold IPA, but this one was a wee-bit over the top. But I did appreciate the opportunity to try it - thanks, Chris!

I did not enjoy this beer as much as I thought I would. I have enjoyed most of the Mammoth products that I have had, but this was rather plain. Caramel notes outpowered the citrus notes in the aroma, while the flavour was fairly malty as well.

Bomber courtesy of slowrunner split between a friend and I on a relaxing Friday evening. Not big or hoppy as an IIPA is supposed to be, but I found enjoyment from the well thought out additions of sage and juniper that make this beer stand out. The sage is upfront in the aroma and leads to a mild citrus and flowery profile. Soapy amber/copper body with a diminishing bubbly head and streaky lacing. Filling and surprisingly balanced. The malts and herbs seemed to subdue the hops quite a bit. Flavor is full of herbs and flowers along with caramel and fresh dough. The juniper and sage are easily detectable and really add a nice dimension.

sage and/or juniper have their place in beers, but i think they make this beer a bit of an unbalanced mess, and take away from the otherwise great hop profile of this beer. Good body, but there's too much dueling for your attention. I actually liked the milder epic ipa much better. 11/09 had a couple more times...not my favorite, but it's growing on me

This Imperial IPA pours a deep orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is orange and citrus, touch of malt. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are citrusy and grapefruity. Not a real big Imperial IPA, but has a nice hop profile, with lots of malt in the background. Very drinkable, the 8.5% alcohol is not all that evident. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This is kind of a special beer for me, considering I live right along route 395 as it meanders through the Eastern Sierra. Sentimentality aside, I still enjoyed this beer quite a bit. This surprised me because I generally don't care much for Mammoth brews. Pours a reddish copper color, with a foamy off-white head. Has a pleasant hoppy tingle, but nothing extraordinary. And there is quite a bit of sage in there (nothing says rt. 395 like sagebrush!). Overall, this was a pleasant beer to share with a stranger at an art show in Bishop, Ca.

This was an odd beer. At first, the amount of sage and juniper in the flavor and aroma was very intruiging. I mean it smelled and tasted extremely fresh. I was diggin' the whole beer until about 3/4 of the way thru the bottle. At that point I really didn't like the sage and juniper very much and wanted the hops to blast it out of the water, but it didn't happen. These guys aren't kidding when they say they celebrate the aromas of sage and juniper. It's in this beer loud and proud. Good stuff, but in small quantities.

An orange apperance with a moderate white head. The aroma consisted of lemons, oranges, and perfume. The flavor was rather peachy. Did that sound gay? Well I tasted peaches as well as oranges. The mouthfeel was not very bitter. This would be a good intro IPA to a newbie. Overall not hanging with the big guns but good enough.
