Built to take the bite from a cold winter night, Hibernator features a rich malt base highlighted by warming notes of caramel and toffee. Don't sleep on this rich, robust winter brew. Last year we awoke the bears with a limited run of cans offered at our brewery in Bridgewater Corners. In 2017, we're culminating a year of throwing it back to our roots, by sending Hibernator out for a full run of distribution in 6pks and 12pks of 12 ounce bottles and on draught. Keep your eyes out for it as the weather cools down!

S5L3F2T4O8 HIBERNATOR Nice beery aroma. Has some gunk on the bottom of the bottle. A brownish color beer with some orange tinge. Cloudy on top because of the gunk from the bottle. Initial taste is acceptable then it develops a medicinal feel about the maltiness. Finish is bitter medicinal linger. Hangs for a while.

I liked this beer's blend of character and flavors. It has a nice flavor that is both bitter and a delayed sweetness. The color was not as deep as other lagers, but i don't drink beer for its looks.

I found it to be both sweet and bitter on the palate at the same time. After the initial flavors dissipated the beer had a warm feeling which lingered for a few seconds.

Golden brown cloudy pour with a little head. Bitter ale with finish of honey taste. It smelled and tasted like funky feet. It had a smooth, rich mouthfeel, if I have to say something nice.

Picked this up in Portland, and polished it off on a quiet Wednesday evening in my hotel room in Bath ME.
The label features a brown bear in a rocking chair, enjoying the warmth of a roaring fire, with a pipe and good thick book. Next to his rocking chair, a small pot of honey. And over the fire? A hunting rifle, and the heads of two hunters mounted. ;^) All in all, the label says that this is a nice relaxing sipping Winter beer, to relax and savor when it's cold and frightful outside (and/or you just bagged some Vermont hunters too!).
But there's the rub with this one, IMO. It's a bit *too* laid-back and relaxed. I found this to be more than a little boring, I'm very sorry to say.
Now, this isn't a bad beer, and does have some positive aspects to it. Namely, I did enjoy the fact that the honey is not a huge player in the flavor profile of this beer. Too many brewers try to make sure that the honey that they advertise to be in the beer is noticable enough (often too much so, that is) in the finished product -- making it cloying and syrupy (I'm looking at you, JW Dundee).
But this beer's honey is nicely integrated into the overall complextion of the beer -- a hint of honey, not a Winnie The Pooh-sized dollop.
But even still, I really kinda grew bored with this one rather quickly. Just seemed a bit too laid back and noncommital to me -- a marked contrast to the other Long Trail beers I've run across while on travel.
`Tis okay.
Music: Classical, on the local NPR radio station.

Poured a dark amber color with a medium sized, creamy, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet malts, rather dull. Taste was sweet caramel maltiness, very light hops. The name suggests a doppelbock... tis not.

sampled @ brewery. 6.0% is noting big for these guys that also make Double Bag. A perfect example of why bigger isn't always better. Light amber color. Long Trail may be the most boring brewery I have been to in a while. They use 6 types of malts but there is no distinguishable malt taste. Very boring hop presence.

Probably not the best Long Trail I've had but it's close. Pours a copper color with a medium sized head. Aroma is malty and a little sugary. Flavor is malty, slightly sweet with brown sugar notes. Spicy and warming.

Pours clear copper color with 1 finger of head. Aroma is lightly sweet and fruity, with slight butterscotch as well. Mouthfeel is slick. Flavor is sweet and a bit nutty, as well as a little fruity. An interesting concoction, but not something that's I'd be getting again. There's a bit of diacetyl present in aroma, mouthfeel and flavor. If it weren't for that, it would be a damned fine beer.

Clear Red brown body topped by a thin head that leaves fairly good lace. Sweet malty aroma with a touch of fruitiness. Slightly sweet hoppy flavor with a malty background and a strong hoppy finish. medium to full bodied and slightly dry.
