This is our French Farmhouse Ale, whose rich aroma is full of sweet, fruity esters and notes of farmhouse yeast character. This medium-bodied, unfiltered beer has sweet malty foundation with a touch of sourness and hints of spiciness which add an intriguing character to the beer. Like the flavor, our carbonation is naturally produced by our fermentation methods - light, playful, champagne-like bubbles make enjoying this beer an experience not to be missed. Aroma - fruit cocktail, cloves, bubblegum, Belgian-y esters, light orange peel.
Appearance - hazy orange body, fluffy 3-finger head, long retention, above average retention
Mouthfeel - medium-full bodied, medium-high carbonation...busy mouthfeel
Flavor - sweet, lots of caramel/toffee flavors, straw/grassy hops and noticeable alcohol bite
Overall - never heard of Lightning before and this was damn good. Priced right at about $8/bottle, a solid buy and an even better beer. -

Sampled on 12/6/2008. Thanks to the guys from Lightning for share this one. This saison pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet with a touch of orange peel and spices. A medium to full bodied saison. The malts are fruity and sweet, with a touch of spices. The hops are earthy. Spicy like a saison but fruity, yeasty and sweet like a triple. Hide the alcohol extremely well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
