This is the 3rd beer in the Lighthouse Big Flavour Series. Deckhand Saison is a rich, golden, Belgian farmhouse style beer. Pilsner and Vienna malts added with flaked wheat gives this beer a soft malt character while the unique attributes of a true Belgian yeast strain add spicy, peppery and fruity flavors. The acidic sourness and dry finish complement the noble hop character of Styrian Goldings hops. True to this artisan style of beer we present it unfiltered so that you can taste the full flavour of this complex and very satisfying brew. A stemmed tulip glass will enhance the aroma and support the large foamy head.

Pours an ample white head and a body of clear, medium gold. Aroma was nicely spiced, and so was the flavour. Refreshing, well balanced, and smooth. Pleasing all 'round.

Pretty nice beer, spicy! carbonated! racy! really really exciting and bright. A nice homage to the style, characterising hard work to me, hardy and big, alcohol is well represented. Wheat/barley/grass/fields, its all up front, this beer was made for farmhands, not deckhands. Hop character is a touch earthy with a slight element of citrus, but in fact is really just a bittering hop and contributes little to the aroma or the flavour. Really seems a bit tart after drinking a few Nonge 0 impy stouts, but when I drank this beer first, I did notice a belgian-esque tart/sour yeast element. In the end... this beer rules, however I am still not completely sold on the style.
