Aromas of oak first dominate, while the bourbon subtly sneaks up on you and develops, like a fine alcohol. The palate experiences a tannic, bitter and sour mixture, from which notes of pepper and leather arise. It is La Saison Haute in a wooden dress! Leather, alcohol and oak wrap it up in a long aftertaste.

Pours a hazy golden-amber colour with a warm cap, decent retention, but some good lacing. Sour aromas with notes of grapes, gooseberries. In the background is the bourbon with the sweetness and smoked wood. The taste is not as sour, as the bourbon balanced things a little more. Can't feel the alcohol too much in the mouthfeel, slight warming, but feel it in the head. A good Belgian strong ale that goes down nicely and is quite the blend of things.
