This velvety stout pours black with a creamy tan head. Toffee and coffee aromas in this hearty ale are perfectly balanced. Lightly hopped, the flavor is full of the roasted malts and finishes with very low sweetness. A very smooth beer, it is the perfect way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day...whether you're Irish or not. Goes well with dark chocolate (as long as it's not too sweet), as well as many grilled entrees, which compliment the roasted flavors of the dark malts. Ideal serving temp: 55-57° F.

Head vanished before I really got a chance to look at it. Fairly sweet smell. A sort of sweet taste compared to most stouts I've had. A small hint of the regular coffee/chocolate taste. Ok but nothing more.

It pours a dark-brown and black with an inch-thick light-tan head and some surrounding lacing. An aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, toffee and butterscotch, coffee, orange and citrus, nuts, light molasses, milk, and some spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth and fairly rich. Flavors of roasted malts, tart and some funk, light chocolate and coffee, oranges and grapefruits, light molasses and mild spiciness. I don't know if I got a bad bottle, but this is very sour..

part of the collection my wife brought back from Wisconsin - Mark 1, Mod 0 basic dry stout. A decent beer, but no standout qualities. Requisite roasted malt and light chocolate aroma and flavor. Pours dark brown to black with a slight tan head. I'd drink it again, but not seek it out. Love the name, though.

Pretty basic looking stout, some chocolate on the nose, light body and some roasty malts in the flavor. The part I couldn't get past was the sourness, it had sour in the smell and sour in the roasted malt flavor. I don't know if this is one worth going back to.

light bodied and smooth. taste was ok (average at best) but none of us could get past the funky/sour notes in the nose. not roasted malt/coffee/chocolate, but diaper and sour...in a dry stout. WTF? Anyway, not a good stout and not a brewery i'll be revisiting.

This is my second Stout review tonight. A deep dark blackness, as I’d expect. No disappointment yet. I have a small soapy tan head. Not much hang time here. But a decent lacing is left behind. The aroma is so faint. Not impressive, at all. Some malt. That’s it. The body is weak, nearly watery. Not at all what is expected in a Stout. Not much complexity in the taste. Basically a faint indication of roasted malt. The bottom line, the name and packing was far more impressive than the beer, itself.

Poured a thick dark black colour with a full tan frothy head. Decent lacing all around the glass. Aroma is rich with milk chocolate, coffee and espresso notes. Hint of toffee as well. Taste is pleasent, light and fun but slightly metallicy in the finish. Nice beer.

Pours slightly cloudy, dark brown with short, lasting head. Aroma is malt with light bready notes. The flavor is mild; malt and licorice are the discernable elements. Light bodied, well carbonated, and pretty smooth.

Sampled from bottle. Pour opaque black/brown with a thin, tan head. The stout's aroma is prunes and cocoa. A little heavy on the fruit. Balanced and fruity. Dry finish as promised, but still some caramel malts that are unwelcoming for the style. I'll stick with Boulevard Dry Stout for my pick for this style.

Pours a very dark black with a very small head. The aroma has a nice roast and the flavor puts up a nice bit of anise. This is a bit like eating a spiced molasses cookie. Not a bad little stout.
