Luther brewed a Helles Rauchbier, which means this one is a little smoky. And we're talking smooth, mildly sweet smokiness with a prevalent malt flavor and low bitterness. It all comes from the Pilsner, Vienna, and beechwood-smoked malts, making it reminiscent of the beers of Bamberg. Look for golden coloring and malty, smoky aroma to complete the theme. Mmmm... toasty!

    This bottle from heybeerman - also sampled an earlier bottle from PfoxyJohn. Wisconsin Beer Mafia always comes up Large. Light golden pour, slight white head, some lacing. Initial smoke aroma is subtle and lightly sweet, caramel nose and flavor, slight breadiness, very earthy, but when this puppy warms up a bit the smoke is all bacon baby, inviting and intoxicating. Fantastic representation of a German Rauchbier - super flavorful and exquisite aromas. HUGE thanks to Greg, and John, for sharing such a great beer with me. Smoke 'em if ya got 'em.

    Shared early in the evening at a small tasting, and sent to me by heybeerman. Exceptional smoked lager. The smoked malt content is lively and in near perfect proportion allowing the grassy, biscuit malt flavors to play their role in the profile as well. Soft and clean, very easy to drink. Clear golden yellow body with a frothy white head and good lacing. Straightforward and done right. Thanks Greg!

    I really like the light smoke and the clean mild lager, they complement each other very well. This does not have an overpowering smoke nose but it is present and just right. The smoke also doesn't overpower the delicate helles style, I thought this was a pretty good one for lakefront.

    Subtle smoked beer made with light smoked (real smoke) flavor that compliments the mild helles bock flavor. This one would be good with steak and salmon dish. The smoke is the lightest I have tried.
