A strong smell of peat smoke, amber color with a fine mousse in the mouth this is peat smoke takes over with a slight taste of anise, liquorice. But not bitter taste in the mouth long. It's the first time i toast a smoked beer like Wisky, very nice experience.

500 ml capped bottle bought at the brewery. Poured in the old original Spezial Seidla a clear burgundy-brown coloured Rauchbier with a gorgeus two fingers beige and dense creamy foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Sustained carbonation. Good lacing. The aroma is roasted and smoked malts, moderate flowery hops and a touch of barnyard. The flavour is roasted and caramel malts, bread, smoke, some fruity notes, nuts. The mouthfeel is creamy, a bit thin and very smooth. This medium bodied Rauchbier has a lingering smoked and bitter finish. An impressive Rauchbier, in which the smoke isn't too over overwhelming.

Clear dark amber colour with a rish white foam. Biscuity and a bit smokey aroma with notes of hay and white bread. Medium-bodied. Nutty and biscuirty malty flavour with some delicate subtle smokey undertones. Hints of grass and cookies. Mild smoke, cookies, grass, bread and toasted malts in the finish. A well made mild rauchbier. Not bad!

clear brown-amber colour, the foam diminishes quickly, correct lacing, subtle smokyness, tart, medium-bodied, malty and smokey finish - an easy but acceptable beer

This is my favorite Marzen by far. Only in bottles at the brewery, darnk maybe a half dozen of them. Deep amber/red, large body, not sweet in the least. Like most of Sepzial brews, it is supposed to be a rauch bier, and no doubt some rauch maltz was used, but not dominate flavor. A perfect combo of maltz and hops lends this bier a keep on drinking quality that out shines nay MArzen from Munchen I have ever had. Again, if you see it in the states good luck, but a must drink in Bamberg.
