Honoring the eclectic East Side of the city, this Bavarian dark lager is a blend of three specialty grains, creating a rich, smooth, dark beer that anyone can enjoy. Pours a clear, dark color with a nice off-white head. Hints of roasted malts find their way into the aroma, and form a pleasant background to the dark, rich flavor. The German lager yeast rounds out this brew with a smooth, complex finish. It's art in brewed form! Beef dishes especially go well with this brew the roasted malt character stands up well to their rich flavor. Ideal serving temp: 48-50° F.

Another Lakefront from PfoxyJohn. Thinnish dark brown-near-black pour, short tight light beige head, nice lacing. Lightly roasted and sweet aroma and flavor, hint of cocoa, nice and smooth, earthy hops light bitter. Super easy to drink, very flavorful. Thank you John for another Wisconsin brew.

As far as dunkels go, this one isn't bad, and it's American. It pours a very nice deep ruby red colour with some brown highlights and a tan coloured cap. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and floral hops. Flavour is balanced between malty sweetness and the hops. Very good.

The last of the sampler pack my wife brought me from Wisconsin - Pours deep and rich in blackness with a slight tan head. Aroma is freshly roasted malt, a little coffee and a hint of chocolate - and a very mild hoppiness - a nice surprise. Drinks much lighter than it appears. Toffee, chocolate and coffee dominate the flavor in a very nice way - lightly bitter finish that was refreshing - even on a 97-degree/90% humidity central Alabama summer day.

A beer of the month club entry from several months ago. A wonderful dark beer not too bitter, rich refreshing mouth feel, bit of a coffee hints and toasty malt. Went well with steak!

one of the better beers in the 8 pack sampler...decent roasted malt aroma. pleasant enough taste of your average black lager. nothing exciting, but nothing offensive.

Here we have a mahogany deep colored beer. A light tan head, moderate and frothy. Not much hang time, settling into a thin lacing, that in itself eventually disappears as well. The beer overall is pretty simple and straight forward. The aroma is light. Some burnt male. Not much else. The body is moderately robust, low carvonation and smooth. The taste, again, roasted coffee-malt. Not much else. Despite, or because of it’s simplicity is a drinkable quaff.

Aroma is strong, malty and yeasty with just a touch of cinnamon. It pours a somewhat transparent amber-brown with a thick and fairly persistent tan head - quite appetizing. Flavor is malty and hast a subtle undertone of molasses. Texture is smooth, a little fizzy and just a tad thin - this beer's only weak point. Overall, a worthy brew.

This beer poured with a very deep dark burgandy brown color topped off by a medium sided, creamy khaki colored head that left light lace down the glass. Aroma is nutty with some light caramel sweetnees. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and slightly creamy. The flavor is mild with light caramel, hazlenut amd faint burnt tones.

I'm usually not a fan of such dark beers because I don't like the coffee taste but I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Although it pours a dark brown and has a strong malty aroma, I didn't notice an overwhelming coffee smell or taste. Goes down very smooth with an aftertaste that is a little sweet.
