Very bold and a touch bitter. It does mature as it warms. I just sampled the latest batch that was brewed in early September. Lakefront and the Shepherd Express are starting to promote the beer more, but it still can be difficult to find in stores.

Copper-colored beneath a thin, bubbly, off-white head. Smells of faint malt but bold hops. First taste is surprisingly more APA than Marzen lager; pronounced hops, bitter but smooth, with the Vienna malts more expressive as it warms. Maybe not entirely true-to-style, but what a world ain'a? This beer is irreverent, but entirely relevant -- just like its legendary Shepherd Express columnist namesake. Assertive, inventive and, what the fock, a great tastin' beer, ain'a?
