TED LINDSAY A fierce opponent both on and off the ice, Ted Lindsay had over 800 points during his hall of fame career, won a league MVP and led Detroit to four cups. A staunch players’ rights activist, Lindsay spearheaded the formation of the players’ association in the late 1950s. TASTING NOTES This red saison pours with a warm coppery hue and tan head. Aromas are gently spicy, with a slight earthiness and a tinge of clove and banana. The flavours are predominantly biscuit and toffee at first, followed by warming winter spice. Medium-bodied and smooth, lively carbonation and the crispness of Belgian saison yeast and Ontario perle hops provide a balancing zing. The toffee tails off to a slight bitterness at the finish.

Deep amber colour with a warm beige head, average retention and some decent lace. Fruity malts with notes of apples, raisins and some caramel, spices. The yeast and hops are also present. And even more in the taste. This is where the saison part appears with all the fruitiness (mostly apples) and light grassy finish. Quite a nice blend of red ale with Saison yeast and a decent amount of hop. Goes down well for this playoff time. Overall, lots going on here.

Pours a thick frothy beige head and has a clear amber, red appearance. Aromas are roasty, caramel, citrus. Flavours are medium sweetness, lightly bitter, slight sourness with strong notes of yeast. Some notes of caramel and nutty malts as well as earthy hops and spices. Palate has a medium body, thin and slick feel, creamy. Lively carbonation. Has a fairly bitter and astringent finish.

The beer pours a transclucent copper colour with a thin tan ring for a head. The aroma is yeast, vinegar, and grains. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sour grains, yeast, and weak hops. The toffee/caramel flavouring is missing in this bottle.
