Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Pours a nice translucent yellow color with a thick medium sized typical wheat style head that is bone white. The lacing on the side of the glass is great. The aroma is filled with poppy wheat and a nice sort of semi sour passion fruit aroma. The taste matches the aroma quite nicely. A big poppy wheat flavor comes through and the passion fruit hits the tongue right up front before being swallowed by poppy wheat. The mouth feel is light bodied as you would expect and very refreshing.

A gift from a friend who just got back from a wedding in Hawaii. Who would have thought that Passion fruit could be used to flavour a wheat beer? I get the sense that the underlying beer is more of a witbier than an American wheat. The beer pours a hazy yellow topped by a snow-white head. The aroma consist of wheat, spices, and light fruit (Passion I assume). The mouthfeel is medium bodied with mild carbonation. Flavour is slightly sweet, certainly not overpowering. -

Bright gold color, sparse head. A nice wheat beer...the body is light and the carbonation is sparse and gentle. The passionfruit comes out in the aroma and in the finish, where it battles with the hops to create a refreshing dryness.

This was one of the beers I tried at the Oregon Garden Brewfest a couple weeks ago. I was actually surprised with this one and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Gold color with pretty good foam. Pleasantly fruity (you better like fruit in your beer or you'll hate it) and the hops were nice. I would drink this if I was in Hawaii.

A golden appearance with a white head. Not sure how to define passion fruit but I get a hint of apricots and citrus and not much else. The flavor is pretty much the same, boring with a hint of that passion fruit in there. This is like sunny delight turned into beer. Kind of generic, fake, but refreshing nonetheless. They do better!

I enjoyed this beer - I thought the body of the beer was big enough to give the beer bulk but not so big as to wear you out after one. This beer could easily be a session beer - especially during the hot summer evenings. The hints of fruit make this beer a real treat. I typically do not like fruit beers but I was a real fan of this one.

Passion fruit and slight wheat aroma with little head and slight lacing. Light mouthfeel and very quaffable, with a slight passion fruit flavor and a hint of wheat. Would have liked a little more sour and tart flavors.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz, long neck bottle into a pint glass. The bottle has a "bottled on date" of 060409 notched into the label. Appearance: The body has good clarity and a nice golden color. It builds up a tall white head full of big loosely packed bubbles that quickly fade out. This only makes for a very little spotty lacing. Smell: The aroma is pleasant and has a little bit of sweet fruity mango and papaya like notes with a light grainy base. Taste/Palate: Its flavor is very close to what you would expect from its aroma. It is sweet overall and has a pleasant hint of tropical fruitiness. The finish is sweet as well and there is no balance from hops. It's not overly sweet in my opinion but there is very little hop flavor at all. Notes: My overall feeling is that it is easy to drink, somewhat interesting and would have to say that I like this beer. I think this would be a great beer for non-beer drinkers or just people who don't like bitter beers.

A vigorous pour produces a three-finger thick, pale, off-white colored head. The beer is a full gold color that shows an almost brilliantly clear, bright gold color when held up to the light. The aroma smells of tropical fruit as I am pouring this, but smells of tart wheat and light lemon notes when I go in for a more directed inspection of the nose. The SSXDFA fruit somehow seems to accentuate a grassy, freshly thrushed grain aromatic here, but also has a certain musky fruitiness that lightly scents the finish of the nose.A nice prickly carbonation is coupled with a light, but fullish body. The beer starts out dry as it hits the tongue but picks up a grain sweetness through to the finish. Lightly tart tasting with an accenting carbonic bite, the beer has a fairly muted fruitiness though. There is perhaps a touch of non-descript fruitiness in the finish, but there is also a certain peppery, sort of vegetal (reminds me of a green chile actually) note in the finish that is a bit more noticeable. The light grainy wheat character is the most distinct thing about the flavor, but this is certainly a light refreshing brew overall.
Not bad, but the fruit character is awefully subtle. This I suppose is not necessarily a bad thing, but it certainly doesn’t help this beer to stand out.

It pours a light golden with thin white head and some lace evident. Aroma of wheat malts, light hops, light tangerine, and mild spices. The mouthfeel is smooth, full-bodied, and a bit zesty. Flavors of wheat malt, light hops, tangerine-citrus, light apricot, and mild spices. Good beer!
