    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

Sampled on 4/30/2011. This quad pours a medium brown color from a 750ml bottle. Medium sized beige foamy head. The aroma is fruity, caramel and sweet. Medium bodied quad. The malts are fruity, caramel and sweet, touch of dark fruit and some cherry. The hops are earthy. Nice soft carbonation. Hides the alcohol very well. Not as sweet as most quads, very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

The Strubbe Keyte-Oostendse Dobbel-Tripel was one of the beers I had at Max's 72-hours of Belgian Beers Fest. In fact, it was my first of the festival.

The beer was served up in a glass and was reddish-brown in color with an average sized creamy, light brown head. The head stuck around for a while and and left some decent lacing as you drank the brew. The aroma was a little on the disappointing side. I was expecting something nice and malty or had an aroma of dark fruit. Instead, all my nose picked up was some light yeastiness. Nothing too special at all.

The flavor was ok, but not much of what I expected for a tripel. There was a very light acetic flavor to it. I'm not sure if that was too appropriate for the style. The beer drank well. It definitely had a dry back end to it and you could really pick up on the alcoholic notes.

Overall, I wasn't too terribly impressed by this one. Good thing there were about 100 others on draught to choose from.
