Pours deep sable with a fair light tan head. Aroma has roast malt, chocolate, rye and woody notes; rye presence does not overwhelm the others, unlike many rye beers. Flavor has plenty of rye but lets roast malt take the lead, while chocolate, woody, and subtle earthy tones get some attention. Texture has good body and plenty of fizz. Glad I was able to catch this one.
