First few sips thought this was closer to lower 3's, but the flavor grew on me a bit so raised it a couple points. Balance isn't the best for a foreign extra. A little too sweet, then a little too bitter, and doesn't blend together that well. Once past all of that I can enjoy the chocolate/caramel malts. Aroma is semi-skunky and soy-saucey. Appearance is dark black with mocha head...probably the best trait here. Rather go for a Lion, Dragon Stout, Guinness Foreign Extra, or some kind of domestic sweet stout in this style.

This beer is actually called Real Rock and I first had it while staying on a Jamaican resort. As it turns out, this is the only beer TRULY brewed in Jamaica and OWNED by Jamaicans. Red Stripe, aka Jamaican Champagne to the locals, is actually no longer owned by Jamaicans. As for taste, Real Rock is a nice Stout - it is also organic as this beer contains no preservatives making its shelf like nill to none.

12 oz bottle. Sampled at the Lynnwood International Swill Fest. Dark black color. Small sized beige head. Aroma is chocolate, rum and licorice. A medium bodied Foreign Stout. Malts are chocolate and toffee. There is a strong lactic character to this beer as well. Smooth taste, creamy and almost silky. Lively carbonation. Touch of an off flavor, plastic?, cardboard? At the finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Almost black with a slim reddish tan head. Great aroma; roasted malts, liquorice, some chocolate perhaps. A good stout, a bit rough around the edges, up front alcohol, sweet malts, nice oily mouthfeel, which is thin to medium bodied. Quite like it.
