Like most brown ales, this one is less than exciting. However, it is still pretty good, reminds me of a light porter. Pours a dark amber/brown with a decent sized tan head. Nuts, caramel, and malts dominate the aroma. Taste is similar but a little watery.

Deliciously rich and dark, reminiscent of a porter. Hosts a deep roasted nutty flavor as opposed to the strong hops common in other brown ales. Excellent!

A brown/caramel colored ale that is sweet with not much hops apparent. Initially I smelled the sweet malt and then followed by a sweet but not strong caramel/toffee flavor. It is a medium bodied ale that has a thin mouthfeel.

First of the beers my dad grabbed while in Syracuse and hauled back to DE for me to try. This one poured with dark copper color, minimal head and a horrible metallic smelling aroma...so bad I found myself trying not to breathe through my nose as I was drinking. Fortunately, it didn't taste nearly as bad as it smelled (no metallic flavor at all...odd). A nutty taste hit you right away and finished with a hop bitterness. Very little maltiness (no caramel) going on and a bit thin. No real richness to it.

I had this beer with the main course of a paired beer dinner. It poured a ruby to mahogany. A thin line of lacing lasted throughout. It had a sherry aroma with a hint of nuts. The finish was bitter with traces of coffee. This was paired with a steak. I think I would pass on the side dishes next time and just go with steak and beer.

Brewed practically in my backyard. This one is pretty tasty, with a nice nutty flavor to it. It has a sweet aroma and pours nicely. If you are looking for something a wee bit different to try pick this one up and give it a whirl!

This is a dark chestnut colored beer with a moderate head. It has a nutty taste and a dry finish. The flavor of hoppes is subtle and not out of character for this style of beer.
