From a Growler from the Wilmington location. Clear gold with a minimal head. Nice aroma of grass/hay hops. Sticky fruit malt, but hopped like a pilsner. A bit thin and watery. Not that impressive.

TRAIN WRECK from start to finish. Appearance was wrong tiny tiny head to much carbonation, golden color(at least that was right). Aroma was the right things bananas and cloves but heavy on the bananas. Flavor tons of bananas and alcohol was a little to much and where in the world were the spices. UGH bad bad.

"Iron Hill Belgian Tripel." Geez, this one came with such a small head, I about cried. As bubbly as apple cider, too. Based on appearance, my run today at IH was over. The aroma was pleasant, but way too full of bananas. Flavor was a disappointment, bananas for sure at the front of the flavor profile, alcohol in the middle, and v. light spicing to finish. Geez, they may as well have dubbed this an Imperial Hefeweizen. Some soap detected in the flavor, but that’s not unusual for this location (Newark). Mouthfeel was sticky sweet. As it warmed, a medicinal aspect came out in the flavor. This one was way too sweet with no hop balance. A miss on style and a sickly beer to drink (this coming from a pretty strong fan of Tripels). This was worse than that Brother David’s Belgian Tripel from Anderson Valley. Re-rate, 12/07, bottle shared by Robert at SL: Quite a different experience this time through, although not enjoyed much more than the first time through. Lots more bready aspects, some yeast, pepper, and saaz hoppinng in there too. If told it was an odd imperial pilsner, I would have bought into that, not a lot of Belgian spicing in it. Re-rate, 1/09, fresh growler from IH Wilm: Like an imperial wit, really, strong coriander, etc.

07.16.05 Tap at BCTC. Pale gold, not much head. Pepper, floral, sweat, mineral. Grassy and odd, pit fruits, ammonia(?). Hot finish.

This one is right on for the style however there was not much complexity. Cloudy yellow appearance. A yeasty and spicy flavor with some sugary notes and tangerines. A bit thin but not too bad.

Hazy gold color with a small white head and some lacing. Aroma of banana and clove. Taste of citrus fruit, some banana and yeast as well. A nice tripel style beer, although served too cold, at... surprise, the Newark, DE location.

I had a small 4oz sample of this beer last night at their Brewer's Reserve event. It was good and I'd have to try it again in something larger than a oversized shot glass.
