Pasteurised bottle. Ingredients: Optic malt; chocolate malt; Goldings hops. The pasteurised beer is sent to the Glenfiddich distillery and used to seal American white oak barrels; and then transferred to a marrying tun where the barrels are blended. The bottled beer is stored for a month before being distributed to shops. The period spent in the barrel, then the marrying tun and then the bottle gives the beer the name "Triple Matured".

Another different but still the same from I & G, 330 ml boxed bottle. Aged 99 days says this one, with a best before date of December 2010. I'm only three years and two months behind here. One of the better looking I & G pours yet, clear and dark copper with perhaps a single finger's worth of creamy tan head. Reticent aroma, maybe some malt, alcohol, and whisky but it required a strong uptake to detect these. Flavour was the usual I & G malt bomb, although there was at least some alcohol and perhaps the oak and some vanilla as well. Thick mouthfeel, almost syrupy. Cloying finish but at least the whisky was there. Why do all I & G beers taste alike?

Limited bottling and comes in a blue box. Pours a dark copper colour with a creamy medium off-white head that leaves spotty lace. Aromas of vanilla cigarettes, chocolate, roasted malt and notes of almond. Lightly carbonated with a smooth mouthfeel and a little stickiness. The taste is pretty mild overall. Definitely do not feel the alcohol burn, with some flavours of the oak in the aftertaste. Also tasted is vanilla, but not much chocolate and mostly the wood. A pretty decent offering that is high in alcohol, but smooth all-around, and quite nice for the winter season.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep mahogany color ale with a small foamy head with average retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light oak and some lightly sweet malt is more timid then I had expected. Taste is also more thin then expected with some light oak notes and a English caramel malt base with very little character. Body is a bit thin thought creamy texture was enjoyable with some good carbonation. I was expecting a lot more oak based on the description and prior beer tasted from this brewer.

Pours a beautiful, dark, reddish/brown with a medium tan head. The heads fades to nothing leaving just a small amount of lacing however, giving the glass a little swirl brings the head back a bit. Aroma is complex, primarily malty with some sweetness, dark fruitiness and oak hints and again after agitating the liquid within the aroma came right back. Flavour is very smooth with some rye and vanilla flavours. Mouthfeel is medium-thin with medium carbonation. Overall not bad but overpriced, I prefer it to the Canadian Cask I&G.

Bottle: Puts a clear burnished copper ale in the glass. Smallish cap disappears, modest lacing. Caramel malts and some wood tones in the aroma. This brewer constantly amazes me as to how such rich smekking beers fail to match in body. Weak body for the style, caramelized malts predominate, soft kent hopping fast finish for a strong ale. Over rated, over priced.
