West Coast style IPA – "As bitter as I am." JF A key beer in the craft beer revolution. IPAs were originally made in the 1800's in England with extra hops and alcohol to survive the long sea voyage from England to India for the troops there and became so popular for the refreshing bitter taste that the rest of the world soon caught on. When home brewers started experimenting in the 1970's and 80's this style led the way and today it is the most popular style of craft beer. Ours is an 'homage to those first craft brewers that went looking for trouble'.

Tall can from LCBO. Pours a massive frothing off-white head with thick soapy lace and has a hazy orangey coloured appearance. Excessive carbonation. Tropical fruit Aromas abound followed by lots of floral and citrus hop notes. Also a bit yeasty and hints of wheat. Flavours are fruity and juicy, tropical fruit and lots of citrus notes. A bit yeasty and piney. Some mild bitterness on the palate but complemented well with some sweetness, balances things out.

500ml brown bottle, bottled December 2nd (2019). Pours a mild hazy golden-amber colour with a white cap, good stay and spotted lacing. Aromas of citrus (oranges mostly), fruitiness with some piney notes. Hints of raisins. Juicy flavours with the citrus, some zest creating some dryness in the finish. Some decent bitterness, but nothing too crazy, overpowering. Just easy to drink, lightly juicy IPA.

The beer pours a hazed orange gold colour with a light tan coloured head. The aroma is citrus, grains, and weak toffee. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour has definite grapefruit notes, sweet fruit, and grains. A pretty good IPA
