Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather’s youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Saison is crafted from American malted barley, American and European hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur.

Bottle from the brewery, bottled 2017 08 18 (rated April 2018). Pours a hazy golden colour with a white cap, good stay and lacing. Wild funk aromas with sourness from lemon citrus notes and Belgian Ale yeast. The taste is pretty sour at first, but gets a little tamer with time. Kind of like pure lemon juices with the funk slightly lingering. Quite a nice experience!

Is it hyped - yes. Is it good...yes - and that's all that matters. 750ml bottle poured straw yellow with loads of carbonation and a whispy white head. Aromas of grass/hay with some funky undertones. Strong tartness, surprisingly so, along with lemon citrus notes and barnyard funk. Amazingly smooth and easy to drink. I could see myself taking down an entire bottle after cutting the grass. High drinkability yet unique flavors.

Grassy and substantially more funky than most saisons-bordering on a sour. Hoppy bright citrus and musty aroma and flavor. Yet another hit from hill farmstead.
