Highland's most robust beer, having a very malty body with a large, roasted chocolate flavor. It is black in color with a very clean finish and a moderate hop flavor.

A big thanks to my neighbor Joey for this. A very nice beer. The big hangup about this beer for me is the viscosity - way too thin for a stout. All in all, an enjoyable above average beer. Highland does a great job.

Almost a 10 looking beer. It has a large creamy tan head that lasts forever-and leaves Guinness type lacing. Light aroma of milk chocolate. This is surprising considering the rich flavour of chocolate, coffee, vanilla with a bit of tobacco and hops in the finish. Medium/smooth but chalky mouthfeel. Very solid and enjoyable beer.

Poured this one into a glass and held it up against the sun. No light shines through but it's not black it a rich dark brown and pours tiny lacing of a head. Aroma smells like mocha latte. But shit it's hoppy ! Yuck after three drinks it's still bitter I'm going to pour it out.

Dark brown, almost black, with a thin, dark tan cap. Sweet coffee, a roasty and yeasty aroma. Rich coffee flavor, char and smoke but not acidic, fairly dry. Tingly carbonation, smooth but unsticky. Simple, uncomplicated, pleasant.

This beer had a very "roasty" chocolate flavor. I tasted more roast than chocolate. It had a very dark, almost black color with a very pretty taupe-colored foam. The coffee flavor was more pronounced. I would like to add that my review may be a bit tainted since I just finished a brewery tour that brews my favorite porter and brown ale, so my taste buds were a bit compromised.

Aromas of mocha, and chocolate, with the slightest touch of hops. Flavor was about the same as the aroma with the hops becoming a bit more prevelant, the finish was dry and long. Overall a nice stout, big thanks to beerpal guru bluesandbarbq.

Thanks to Lou for this, brought this to the 3rd annual Houston stout tasting to get us started .. . Pours a dark brown, great foam .. . roast, nuts, coffee grounds mostly .. . medium mouth, light twinge .. . a good beer to get the palate set to black .. . I planted some bird seed. A bird came up. Now I don't know what to feed it.

A blackness so inviting with a soapy textured off white head rises moderately above. Settles fairly quickly leaving little lacing, a thin ringlet. Dark chocolate jumps out at ya, in the nose. Dark, bitter chocolate and eben more bitter coffee are in the taste. It might be an acquired taste, but it is mine. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated and light creaminess make this a good stout.

Pours a very dark brown color with a big, foamy, tan head and thick lacing. Smells immediately like chocolate pudding followed by strong notes of coffee, dry roasted nuts, and black patent malt. Medium bodied, dry with a solid bitterness and a thoughtful aftertaste. Tangy chocolate flavor mixed with dark fruits and plenty of dry roast. Sugary cocoa and a firm green hop flavor round out this tasty stout. Big props to bluesandbarbq for sending this my way, I enjoyed every drop of it.

This was my my 3rd kind sampled by Highland, and my first that wasn't in a 12 oz. bottle. I expected this to be a little bit better, or say more on the "premium" side since it was in a 22 oz. Dark brown, coffee colored appearance. About the same to me as their porter in quality, but I think there was a tad too much coffee in this one. I know that is what they were shooting for, but the balance was just a bit off otherwise this would be close to 9's across the board. Still a very good brew, especially if you're into heavy coffee flavored ones. Just not something that gave me that "wow" feeling.
