Our new summer/fall seasonal has arrived! Pas de Dieux is a dry, easy-drinkin’ Saison brewed with French ale yeast. We call it ‘old-school’ Saison. Back in the old days, befor refrigeration, and before water was drinkable on its own, farmers brewed Saison in the spring to be consumed by their workers during the summer. It therefore had to be low in alcohol (for obvious reasons), refreshing, and because hops are a natural preservative, quite hoppy, so that it would keep until the harvest. Like everything we brew at High & Mighty, Pas de Dieux is lower in alcohol than your average beer, at 4.5% by volume, but it doesn’t leave you wishing for more. The special yeast we’ve imported from France provides a subtle peppery spiciness to the brew, which started shipping to retailers in 22 ounce bottles, and a rare few pubs, in Massachusetts last week. The response has been phenomenal, so far . . . . we hope you like it, too.

This is a very nice local beer. Happened to see a few in the store. Big puffy head, that soon settles to a 1/4 in. with milk shake type lacing. Some lavender? in the nose, fruit for sure, subtle. The nice funk of Saison ale with a touch of pepper. Light golden, yellow color. Very good- another seasonal that I would like all year!
