A dark premium beer, which takes you by surprise. It is not what it looks like. It is rich and malty with a roasted edge, but then comes the spiciness and fruit: from a medley of English and American hops. Beware it drinks a lot lighter than it is. Also in bottle. *CAMRA Champion Porter of the North West Region 2012* *CAMRA Champion Porter of the North West Region 2011* *CAMRA Champion Porter of Cumbria 2010*

Pours a deep, opaque coffee brown with a respectable light tan head. Mocha aroma has an overtone of molasses with a touch of miso. Notes of coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, molasses and miso flow over the tongue, and leave a bit of hops in their wake. Texture is firm, smooth, fairly fizzy - not quite what I expect with an Imperial stout, but still good ’nuf. Roast malt & coffee finish has a little bitterness, rounding out a rather nice beer.
