The Harpoon 100 Barrel Series is a return to our brewing roots. We call it the 100 Barrel Series because that's exactly what it is - one-of-a-kind creations fashioned by a Harpoon brewer, limited to a single 100 barrel batch. Every couple of months a different Harpoon brewer will choose a style, develop a recipe, and brew the beer - from selecting the ingredients to the final filtration. You will find that brewer's signature on each bottle of beer from their batch. So if you like the beer, you'll know who to thank. The Harpoon 100 Barrel Series is brewed at our brewery in Windsor, Vermont.

Bottled at SBWF: Dark brown, with a rich beige foam. Full aroma of smoke, salmiak and black coffee. Salmiak, tar and black chocolate in the flavour. Clean mouthfeel. Long smokey finish with notes of licorice and hay.

Bottled@SBWF2007. Very dark brown colour with mediumsized brown head. Aroma is wet smoked wood along with some hops and slight licorace. Flavour is smoked and wooden with some leathery notes.

Pretty nice, love smoked beers, so this was a treat. Pours a very dark brown, with a small head. Aroma is meaty, smoky, with light chocolate hints. Flavor starts with some bits of roastiness, even a touch of sweet chocolate, followed by some pleasant smokiness. Smokiness is more prevalent than I had expected, a good thing IMO. Overall, a pretty nice beer.

What a badass of beer. Brown, fluffy head, and jet black. This was a beer to be reckoned with, slight hops, and the most complex malt character I've ever encountered, I would love to spend some more time with this beer.
