A meal in a glass! Huge roast flavour and body. Created similarly to a traditional Irish Oatmeal Stout, this dark ale has heaps of character and will easily substitute for a full-blown meal is aged for 2 months to ensure full-bodied flavour.

They say at the brewery that this is brewed in the style of an Irish Oatmeal stout, but I don't see it. Dark brown pour, almost black, with a thin creamy brown head. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate milk, and licorice. The flavour is very bitter...lots of roasted malt and coffee.

Enjoyed a day at Lake Louise, so of course had to stop at the Grizzly paw for a beer and dinner. This stout took a long time to pour (as was explained by the waitress, needed time to settle.) Deep dark color, basically black, with an inch of choclate milk colored foam. Nice thick strings iof lace that lasted forever. Although served a bit too cold, as it warmed the aroma of coffee, cocoa, and roasted malts came through. Flavor mirrored the smell, full bodied, and filled with coffee, chocoalte malt, and slight bitterness to finish. Smooth and rich, was definatley worth the wait. I really liked this one.

On tap at the brewery. Pitch black, big thick dark tan head that lasted well over 15 minutes, and crazy sticky lacing. Nice roasted malts, light coffee, but overall the aroma was on the light side. Tasty light coffee flavour overtook the mild toasty malts. A touch of sourness to it. Fairly soft mouthfeel with nice midrange bitterness that leaves the tongue a bit dry. Leaves a bitter coffee aftertaste.
