RoboHop Imperial IPA, this one New England style... is not a beer to trifle with. Tropical fruits abound from the glass, which consist of passion fruit, guava, lemon with notes of white grape and evergreen mingling together. The full-bodied 8.5% Imperial IPA is very gentle on the palate, making it one sneaky bugger. Many of the aromas come through in the taste, resulting in a very pleasant juicy finish that?s slightly dry. Pre-release ABV was 9.2%

The beer pours a hazed orange-gold with a bubbly white head which lasts a couple of minutes but leaves a nice amount of lacing. The aroma is cereal grains, citrus, tropical fruit, and some floral hop notes. The mouthfeel is full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is a light mix of sweet caramel notes, and bitter citrusy notes. You cannot taste the alcohol, but you can feel it going down. Another good beer from the fine folks on the QEW. -

Bomber from the LCBO, written 8.5% ABV. Pours a slight hazy golden-amber colour with a warm cap, frothy, long lasting with foamy-soapy lace. Aromas start off on pure grapefruit with its zest. Later, notes of pine needles and mild caramel appear. Well-balanced dry mouthfeel with some medium-bodied wetness and crispness. Again, lots of grapefruit in the taste and not as much caramel as in most DIPA. Alcohol is well-hidden so goes down nicely. Feels more like a normal IPA, which is a compliment.

From a 650ml bottle. Pours a big frothy beige head and has a hazy golden appearance. Thick dirty sticky lacing. Aromas are quite citrusy, piney, floral and herbal hops. A bit yeasty as well. Flavours are also very much on the citrus and bitter hops side. Quite a bit of yeasty notes as well as bready malts. Has a full bodied mouthfeel. Smooth and creamy texture. Average carbonation. Astringent and slightly bitter finish. Easy to drink and hoppy enough for my tastes. Really doesn’t seem like an impy IPA to me though (bottle says 8.5%).
