Our pet octopus is a bit of a jerk. He’s that guy who has a couple then either tells you how much he loves you or threatens to fight you. So we brewed this IPA, with 8 varieties of hops and 8 types of malt. We targeted 88 IBU and 8.8% to appease him. Sadly, when he found out that we’d fabricated all of the above info, it only made him more volatile. We are starting to realize that Octopus was a poor choice for a pet.

So much better poured than straight out of the can and those are where my ratings lie. Out of the can you get this overwhelming grapefruit taste which really doesn't really work for me and gets a little less bitter as you drink it. A bitter/sour combo, though more sour than bitter. Out of the glass I found it really minimized the citrus taste and gives kind of a creamy, full feeling. Also out of the can the body is way heavy and even leaves a film around the inside of the mouth. Pouring it really opens it up and vastly improves all aspects of this particular brew. In my experience, certain brews alot can be left to be desired when poured and are better sample out of the can or bottle, but not this one. Kudos Great Lakes.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden colour. Large white head retains well and leaves some lacing. Juicy pine and citrus aroma. Flavours of grapefruit, lemon, orange peel, pine, grass and a bit of melon. Very refreshing and tasty. Medium mouthfeel with a dry finish.

The beer pours a slightly hazed medium gold with a generous slightly off-white head that quickly disappears. The aroma is light pine, sitrus, and tropical fruits with some cereal malt thrown in the background. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is dominated by the tropical fruit notes with hints of grapefruit and grains in the mix. A well-done IPA by Canada's foremost IPA experimentalists! -

Enjoyed at the Loon. Pours a hazy golden-amber colour with an average lasting head and a little lacing. Great fruity nose with tropical fruit notes. Grapefruit zest taste at first with some exotic fruits. Mildly dry mouthfeel with a mild bitterness. Pretty nice fruity IPA that I would have again.

On tap at Arrow and Loon. Pours a small amount of frothy off-white head and has an amber appearance. Dirty lacing. Aromas of tropical fruits, mangos, and citrus. Flavours are fairly similar, lots of tropical fruity notes. Also some yeast and bready malts. Has a pretty smooth mouthfeel, slick and somewhat oily. Great retention.
