Grand Cru is our very special Belgian-style dakr ale. Imported malts give it a round malty richness, and the fruity complexity and slightly spicy character come from brewing with a proprietary Belgian yeast strain. Don't let the name fool you; while it may be a special occasion beer, this medium-bodied, elegant incarnation is anything but snobbish.

A really nice looking red-brown ale with a touch of haze. Smells of breads and blue cheese with undertones of dark fruit. Flavor is apricot and cherry mixed with sweet malts. Good balance and full body, maybe not their best beer but still pretty darn tasty.

Pours a medium brown with a lilty tan head. Aroma is brown sugar. Mouth is warmed by alcohol. Flavor is smooth. Nice beer, Great Divide is always solid.

This poured a dark brown with beige head. Aroma contains some milk chocolate covered cherries, toffee, and spice notes. Flavor is very sweet with chocolate, cherries, molasses, and caramel. Not a bad belgian grand cru attempt but not quite in that St B 12 league either. Overall this was a good one.

Bought up on my KC trip, got in Lawrence @ Cork & Barrel .. . Pours a dark brown mahogany .. . fruit, fruit skin, sugar, spicy yeast, and more dark fruit .. . goes down very well, not the most complex but very tasty and enjoyable.. .. . I can't enjoy a party until I know where the bathroom is. You knew that when you married me.

Sampled on 5/14/2011. Bottled on Jan 13, 2011. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a deep clear ruby color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized beige/white foamy head with nice retention and good lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet, candi sugar, caramel and raisins. A medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are caramel, fruity, brown sugar and sweet. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice carbonation. Touch of cherry. Fairly smooth. Nice sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Bottle. pours out in a hazy reddish brown colour with a small tan-coloured head. Fat and sweet aroma of marzipan, cloves, brown sugar and mild cinnamon. Full-bodied with sugary notes of marzipan, almond-paste, cloves and brown sugar. Sweet finish of almond-paste, brown sugar, fudge, nuts. Well-hidden alcohol. Not a favorite.

Strong aroma is yeasty with firm tones of cinnamon and cloves and a malty underpinning. It pours a clear, dark brown like a cola but has a thick, frothy light tan head. Molasses-sweet flavor is malty and a little spicy and has hints of caramel and honey. Texture is smooth, a little thick and subtly tingly. This one is a pleasure to drink.

minus the youngish metalic aroma, this is one tasty beer. the aroma just never came together, but the beer itself was a big, slightly boozy (but never hot) showcase of malt and dark fruit. probably not one i'd get again, as the price was steep and hard to find, but glad i tried it.

Great Divide makes good beers. And this one is no different. A deep mahogany colored beer with a big frothy textured, light beige head rising robustly above. There’s some hang time on this one. Settles into a thick ringlet atop the body and equally thick, sticky film aside the glass. Dark fruits and sour yeast dominate the nose. Sweeter notes of raisins and figs in the tasting, though the sourness of the yeast rounds this one out well. Full bodied and syrupy on the tongue.
