This brew pours a dark brownish black colour with a two finger sized tan head. Lace that is left behind is sticky. Aroma is soft, faint with noticeable nutty character. But kind of weak. Taste is slightly metallicy with plum and apple flavors. Overall it's a pretty average brew.

This well-crafted American Porter provides more hop structure than that of the Dane's regular Black Earth offering. The body is a dark brown with an amber hue. The medium off-white head has fair retention and light lacing. The nose is roasted malt and bold hops. The bitter chocolate flavor intensifies to a somewhat astringent finish. This is a medium-bodied brew but somewhat of a light, thin mouthfeel for the style.
