My first foray into "altbiers" and I'm not really sure what they "should" be, but this was an enjoyable beer. Thanks to eaglefan538 for sharing growler. Pour was amber, clear with little head and lacing. Nice balance of sweet malt and hops. Taste really came out as it warmed. Smooth for a lager.

MMMM thanks eagle. Poured a nice gold color with a medium head which had good lacing. Smelled of malts and a little grass. Tasted a little of sweet malts and hops. Very very nice beer. Am becoming an altbier fan.

A classic German "altbier," this one is best enjoyed on-site in Krefeld, Germany. Pours a copper clear color with a large and pillowy head that actually laces quite nicely. The very first beer I liked (perhaps one reason I think so highly of it), and one which has a smooth malt (bready and resinous) taste with a crisp and clean, hoppy (somewhat spicey or peppery) finish. German quality and a smooth drinking lager. Great stuff that can be coupled with great food from Gleumes.
