KnoxBeerCrew tasting. Pours a lightly hazed rusty red color with a short head and some lacing. Subtle cherry and beery aroma, lightly tart and slightly sweet, very light funkiness. Lightly tart cherry and funk flavor, light berries, light yeasts, very subdued yet still very flavorful - not a tart bomb nor overly barnyardy. Thanks KevinLA.

Sampled on 9/29/2012. This fruit beer pours a murky dark reddish brown color from a 750ml bottle. Small to medium sized beige foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, cherry and earthy, with some wood and some yeast. A medium to full bodied fruit beer. The malts are fruity and sweet, lots of semi sweet cherry flavors. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. It’s a touch tart and a little funky, with nice cherry flavors. I am not sure it was what I was expecting, it certainly is not all that saison like, but the flavors mix and match well. The fruit flavors work well with the earthy barnyard yeasty aspects. Really hides the 9.5% alcohol very well. The tartness increases as it warms. Interesting beer. I can see where there would be a large diversity of options on this merits or lack of them for this beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet, tart and funky.

Out of a bottle at Funkwerks. Pours a cloudy red brown with a medium white head that dissipates to a thin film that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is a little subdued - some grains, and sweet cherry and wood.
The flavor is some sweet cherry with some wood notes and a grassy bitterness. It's not as sweet as expected. There's a good balance between the sweet fruits and the light saison yeast funk. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with some slightly sharp carbonation.
Overall, a very nice beer. I've liked what I've had from them so far. Nicely balanced.
