Silver Medal Winner 1997 World Beer Championships - Oatmeal Stouts. Our classic dark beer. Full body and a well rounded flavor comes from a foundation of seven different grains. The oats add a special silky texture that complements the roasted malts. The rich malty flavor is spiced with plenty of Northern Brewer and Fuggles hops for balance. Enjoy this perennial Free State Favorite by itself or as a blend with one of our other beers

Another Kansas sixer for my visit to smalltown Kansas. Nice bison. Nearly black brew with a fluffy tan head. Whiff of bubblegum on the pour, and the aroma remains sweet & fruity caramel even after that's long gone. Sweet with very light char, some balance in the form of a trace of pine. Wet, tingly, medium body, not very sticky.

Nothing new and exciting, but it is an honest example of the type that is done well. Very dark brown to almost black with a very light head and almost ne lacing. Flavor and aromas typical of the style, but uninspired. Not bad - not great.

Sampled from bottle, thanks to dansting! Pours opaque black-brown with minimal head. Roasted malt and subtle dark fruit is present in both the aroma and flavor. Mildly bitter and smooth. A nice stout.

Pours black. Great head, great lacing. Chocolate and evergreen are noted in the aroma. Coffee and bready malts are bridled by just the right amount of bittering hops. Full bodied and easy-to-drink, smooth, creamy. Delicious example of an oatmeal stout.

Got two bottles of this one; one from Caddylac and one from pfoxyjohn, @ OktoberPfist. Nice black pour with a medium tan head and some nice lacing. Roasted malts in the aroma with some almost burnt brown sugar and some hops. Taste is very smooth with the malts and toastiness upfront and a smooth easy slight hops finish. Thank you to both Andy and John for a fine stout.

Well rounded and deceptively drinkable with a slight chill on the breeze. Silky smooth over the tongue and roasty with balanced bitterness. Not the most memorable, but oh so delicious.

very dark in color, but not too thick of head which I am almost disappointed in. I love the color of most heads genearally and this just left me a little disappointed. the taste was a little dry to me but had a great mouthfeel and after taste. I will def drink again!

Very black with a touch of red on the edges. Fair amount of lacing and a medium sized head. The aroma is oats, fresh bread and some grass. The taste is full and bready with notes of blackberries and some light piney hops. Thin mouthfeel, but still very good. Sampled at the brewpub.

Great looking stout that slightly lacks the flavor of many of the great stouts. Thick and rich, almost syrupy, this will get you full after a couple. A pretty good beer, but not as great as the other Free State beers.
