This is the only one of the their first 4 original brews (Sieur de Léry, St-Édouard, Benedict Arnold), that does not explode in my hands as I pop open the cap. The reason. 10% ABV. Pours a clean dark copper colour with a decent head, creamy creating a coat over the brew, beige mocha and sticking to the sides. Lots of dark fruit aromas (plums, raisins, dates), roasted malts, butterscotch, grainy malts and nuts. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Flavours of dark fruits, roasted malts, coffee notes, apples and mild rusty hops. Lots going on here, maybe not as well blended as it should be, but nonetheless their better beer so far.
