Out of the Ashes is a series of limited release beers that showcase the varied and unique flavors and aromas delivered from malt smoked over wood-burning fires. The second member of the series, Mesquite Chili Lime Ale, has the familiar sweet and smokey flavor of mesquite combined with the fiery character of chipotle and Pasilla peppers, followed by the fresh tartness of lime.

22 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy golden orange with a small white head that quickly goes to a thin collar that leaves little lacing.

The aroma is big smokey mesquite, some chipotle and a bit of citric lime. Smells like fancy BBQ chips.

The flavor is a bit subdued and watery - I get smokey mesquite and a little chipotle with a sweet malt backbone. The finish has a little burn from the chili, and I don't really pick up lime. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and quite watery.

Overall, an interesting mix of flavors, but it's overly watery and not something I would drink more than one of.
