After highlighting a number of pilsners and American-style India and regular pale ales the past few months, it's time to turn to a seasonal favorite — Oktoberfest beer. Fort Collins has steadily been producing quality beers since its 2003 inception and has grown to have distribution in about 21 states in all areas of the country. It has just released a good middle-of-the-road Oktoberfest, which is not a criticism by any means. Some Oktoberfests go overboard with the Vienna malt and sweetness, which can be a bit overwhelming. Others don't highlight the Vienna at all, leaving a beer that simply tastes like a lager with a darker color.

A copper colored beer with a moderately sized frothy textured, off white head rising above. There's some hang time on that head. It settles into a thick ringlet. The nose od light sweetness. In the tasting it has a metallic skunked tone that cuts into the grassy hops one would expect from the style Light, effervescent.
