Our latest collab with Lulo Coffee utilizes cascara, which is the dried skin of the coffee cherry. This cascara is made up of Caturra and Bourbon coffee cherry skins from Colombia. The producer, Wilfredo Ule Vargas, is renowned for his quality, having won multiple awards over the years. We tossed a bunch of this cascara into a Tropical Stout base to lend some leathery, earthy notes to a robust, rich stout, with lot's of roasty and chocolatey tones. Do yourself a favour and pay attention to Kevin's work at Lulo. His coffee will impress you.

Dark brown colour, fairly clean at first with ruby see-through and copper highlights. The head is beige, frothy, good retention and some lacing spots. Roasted malt base giving some dark fruits (raisins, dates), chocolate malts and apples. The coffee is light, but shows up a little more in the taste, blending with the bitterness, dryness and hoppiness. I have had many times the Lulo coffees, and they are fruitier, not really bold, hence why the coffee is so light here. Quite a dry, hopped up stout.
