Fish Tale Blonde Ale will be avaible until the October release of 2005 Winterfish. The light bodied, golden hued beer has a creamy head that lingers on the glass. The delicious malt character is balanced with Tettnanger hops for a gentle bitterness and aromatic finish.

Tasted at the May Northern California Beer Tasting. This blond ale pours a golden yellow color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, touch of vanilla. A medium bodied blond/golden ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are mild and slightly spicy. Crisp and clean. A light and refreshing tasting beer, with no major taste defects, but not a lot of flavor either. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet and fruity.

Not much to hang your hat on a blonde ale, except the fact that they are usually really easy to drink, refreshing and that's usually it. This is no different. The aroma had a bit of sewer-like aroma wafting up but after a few swirls it went away. What was left was a very subtle fruit aroma. Appearance was a medium gold color, clear with a one-finger thick white head. Flavors had some moderate honey character, subtle fruit notes and that's about it. A clean, crisp finish.

Ah, for a blonde it had flavor, but it wasn't all that great of a flavor. The pour was golden with slight orange hues. Nice initial head, quickly fades, but the lacingg was ok. The aroma was fruity with some wheat notes. The flavor was grainy, fruity, and wheaty, somewhat vegetal, herbal, musty underneath it all, leaving a less than optimal experience, but not a terrible one. Mouthfeel was moderate to heavy for the style but overall light medium. Not bad. Not great.

The body of this beer is cloudy amber with a big bubble slightly off white head that starts to disappear after a minuet but leaves a good covering over the beer. The aroma is dominated by aggressive fruity hops way to aggressive for the style in my opinion, the aroma is very one dimensional all hops all the time. Watery dish soap mixed with way to much hops is what I taste, hops has taken over this blond ale and not for the better. Even the mouth feel is fairly watery, and the after taste is harshly bitter. When you get right down to it this isn’t really a bad tasting beer, but I believe they have missed the style completely for it, and this isn’t what I was hopping for when I cracked it open.

pours a orangish color with a massive creamy white head that had great life. great lacing!! holy hopness god!! the smell is HOPS...HOPS... and more HOPS!! amazing!! also a hint of yeast and slight smell of malts... no doubt tho... Hops is the most appearent aroma!! the taste of hops isnt has strong as in the smell... but there is a weird taste here that im not diggin... sorta like sour gym socks... its different i'll give it that... but it aint a taste i love!! the mouthfeel is mediumed bodied with a nice creaminess appeal to it. Like beercronic said... after a while of letting it set it taste better... it loses that sour gym socks taste and becomes more hoppy in flavor!! im really starting to like Fish Tale breweries alot!! highly enjoyable and highly recomended!!

Amber, going orange - lots of tiny suspended micro-particles. Very clear with some head which sticks quite well. Aroma? Lots! But it's all quite mild but very fresh and good. Sweet fruity malts, overripe peaches, floral hops and a hint of yeast. Once it warms up, a bit of fake grapefruit shows up along side a dusty scent. The mild flavour of honey, malts and an undescribable spice increases and becomes much more obvoius when warmer. There's also an almost sour bitterness as well. Yum yum. Medium bodied and a soft creaminess contrasts the tangy bitter aftertaste. I'd advise not rushing into this beer. Open it and let it sit for 10 minuits first to really see what this beer is all about. I've had it fresh out of the bottle and it's way better after a bit. Left a tiny pile of sediment in the middle of the bottom of the glass. Very drinkable. Another excellent Fish Tale brew.
