As wonderful as this winter has been, it’s been a long one. While at the brewery one day reminiscing of warmer weather and dreaming of sandy beaches and white capped waves we came up with a recipe to merge the two seasons together. We took a dark beer (more popular in the cold winter months) and infused it with the tropical goodness of roasted coconut flakes and cacao nibs. Delightfully smooth and dark this is pure beer candy. And since none of us at the brewery has ever actually surfed we figured Hodad (the surfer term for the guy who drives to the beach with a board on the car, sticks his board in the sand and tans and picks up Betties) was the perfect name for a Vermont brewery creating a Hawaiian style ale.

Enjoy at White Rock Pizza in Vermont in a can. Pours a dark brown colour with a beige creamy head that goes down quickly. Chocolate malts aroma with light vanilla hints. The coconut comes out in the taste, right over the roasted malts. Decent hops creating a light dryness in the finish. Coconut and burnt grain hints lingers. Well blended porter with beautiful notes of coconut, chocolate and coffee.
