O back when beercronic was in the infancy of beer and caving... so much excitement. This review is 5 years after the last one, but the beer sounds the same. Biscuit malt, amber colour, insinuates some small amount of carapils. Good head retention, medium to light body, a bit sweeter than I would like. Hops are lemon zest, grass, hay and a light light light light light touch of something fresh and herbaceous like mint... maybe a woody/earthy something. Dece. Drinks better than the sum of its parts.

Relatively new packaging, Fernie has it's Griz Pale available in cans ($10.99CAN/6 pack). Pours out a dark golden orange color, short white head of foam. Aroma, though not super strong, is pleasant. Some malt and citrusy hops with a tiny touch of grapefruit. The flavor is well balanced, but again, not overly strong. Malty mixed with herbal and citric hops. The mouthfeel is good, well carbonated and not flat or sticky. No where near the hop-bombs some other micro brewers are putting out, but all around quite tastey. One up over other Molson/Labatt's, a good transition into more flavorful beer. I enjoyed it, and will have another.

Holy Christ. I drank the entire litre in less than 30 minutes! I truly thought that I was going to be dumping this beer - just had a feeling. Turns out that it is too bad that I did not try Fernie's other brews. Bought this right in Fernie at a liquor store that you access from a back alley on a caving expedition. Nothing like showing up a geologists house with a couple of litres of beer in no less than 4 bottles. Showed some class and asked for a glass tho.... Huge white head came out of nowhere and dumped out on the hardwood floor. I moped it up with my sock that I had had on for 2 days and hiked for almost 20 hours in...then slept in that night. Gold leaning towards orange. Smelt pretty good! It's got some of that small micro brew smell that can turn you off. Weak sweet malts and slight hops. Taste is ok, but it's weak breadlike malts, something sweet and so-so hops. I guess it felt ok, which means it was weak and forgetable but at the rate I was drinking it, I never really thought about it. Better than it should be! I recommend taking it right out of the bottle for affect.
