This classic American IPA showcases an aromatic, bold hop flavor. Horizon hops and oats provide a sleek, velvety body and balanced bitterness while two pounds per barrel of dry hopping offer initial waves of citrus and pine. We’d give our left foot for another pint! A stupid amount of whole cone hops in the hopback and whirlpool infuse this beer with intense citrus, pine and grapefruit character. A firm but smooth bittering is provided by the Horizon hops, highlighting the insane amounts of Cascade, Chinook, Centennial and Simcoe hops used. To balance a small militia of hops you need a big malt bill, and Wood Chipper delivers symmetry with a gang of Carastan, Munich, NW Pale Ale and Oats. The Pale Ale malt provides a subtle toasty back ground while the oats sneak in for the finish to incorporate a sleek, velvety body. Harmony ensues and balance is restored.

A rust colored pour with a thin creamy off-white head. Loads of citrus in the aroma, as well as fresh bread, light spices, and weak yeast notes. Average mouthfeel. Pine and citrus notes dominate the flavour, with the sweet malt notes left in the background. Decent, but could be better balanced.

Finally, a beer from North Dakota! Pours hazy topaz with a thick and fairly persistent ivory head. Aroma yields resiny hops, tropical, citrus and fresh malt. Flavor features zesty and slightly bitter hops, tangy and tart citrus, a little tropical and a little malt that inject some sweetness into the mix. Texture offers fair body and OK fizz. Get chipper - but please chip responsibly.

Another state marked off (North Dakota). Can from ~~NGD. Light amber colored pour with a medium frothy light beige head, nice lacing. Bold initial piney, citrus and tropical fruits from the hops in the nose and palette, then a nice malt base to offset. Nice bitter linger. Pretty good ND beer! Finally. Thanks Jason. Much appreciated.

Nice to finally enjoy a "local" beer (even though it is currently contract-brewed in WI). The local newspaper compared it to Two-Hearted. That comparision might be a little too generous though. Nevertheless, this is a solid IPA with plenty of citrus and floral notes but a large malt base that keeps the bitterness from dominating--well balanced and on the milder side of the bitter IPA spectrum. I would love to see this become a regular offering at many/all of the local sports bars, much like Sam Adams or Summit EPA. Time will tell.
