A smooth and sturdy stout, made with 10% rolled oats, roasted barley and chocolate malt. The name is referential to the founders of Thebes, warriors who sprang from the earth when the teeth of a slain dragon were sown by Cadmus. Bittered with Chinook; finished with Cascade and Columbus hops.

I had this beer at Taphouse in Seattle, WA on a recent trip. Not a bottle the real deal. It was fantastic, not a heavy aroma but a bold full-bodied, chocolate and coffee inspired sensation. I immediately looked it up on beerpal and none of the reviews did it justice. This is a must have.

Taps rich dark chocolate with a good tan head. Aroma provides roast malt, coffee, chocolate and earthy tones, calling for a taste. Flavor offers rich coffee, chocolate, roast malt, oatmeal and subtle earthy tones, plus a bit of woody hops on the back end. Texture delivers firm body, peppy fizz, and a mocha finish. Toothsome!

Black with a thin brown head. Slick but sparse lacing. Subdued aroma of burnt grain. Creamy mouthfeel, medium body. Flavour has medium malt sweetness, bittersweet chocolate, burnt coffee, caramel and some hop bitterness.

Anytime there's "dragon" in the name I'm in... and in a few cases I've been burned (no pun intended), but this is off the chain good. Deep, rich, thick 20W-50-like consistency with robust roasted malt with bold chocolate and coffee flavors and aroma. Full-bodied - and I mean full. Smooth and creamy - just an absolute pleasure.

Shocked at the rave reviews on here. Though I admit Elysian hasn't impressed me much, I didn't care for this at all. I'll have to have another go at it. But here's what I wrote: Dark, malty, moody, burnt, no head. So not creamy. It's good homebrew. Pretty much what I feared/expected, actually a struggle to finish.

Poured an impenetrable dark body under a thin brown cap. Aroma was an inviting blend of coffee and dark chocolate; so was the flavour. Mouthfeel was smooth and creamy; finish was a coffee and malt delight, with a sweet touch. Delightful.

Ok, it has been 45,000 miles since you changed the motor oil in your old Chevy - well, that is the appearance of Dragonstooth stout. Dark, no that's not right -- inky black, a bit syrup like in texture. Heavy dense head and wonderfully full flavored of toast, chocolate and a lot of other tasty things.

First this beer is well priced. My first in the Elysian Brewery selections. Pours a rich, deep mohagonay. Does this want to be an Imp Stout??? There is potential there. I wonder what oak ageing woud do for this brew. Head is thick, if you pour for a head (which I do) and lingers long enough to enjoy the aroma. Rich chocolate, semi sweet dark chocoalte and dark fruit profile of rasin and plum. Light notes of vanilla and anise. You think sweet stout when you nose this brew. Then the complexity hits you. Appearance is what you expect out of a proper stout. Mouthfeel - well, this can definately be a breakfast brew. Sans coffee. The richness makes up for the light "cream and sugar coffee" notes on the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is silky smooth, definately a session brew - especially if you are new to the brewery - and a Stout Lover (pun intended) this is an impressive example of the style. Flavor is chocoalte and chocolate. Semi sweet and dark, with notes of vanilla and roasted malts. I want to thnk about burned marshmallows over a campfire when I enjoy this brew - would make an excellent pairing with S'mores. Very well balanced. Might look into cellaring this for about 6 months to see what it will develop. Finish is a teas because you just hav to take a second pull before setting the glass down. Overall, I am impressed. This is a good intro into Elysian - especially if you favor stouts. Slainte!!!!

Very good stout, label art aside. It’s a good stout with a rich, sweet chocolate, coffee roasted stout flavor. The beer pours dark and looks thick. The aroma is jumping between a good chocolate milk shake with a dash of espresso and one of those cheap Italian espresso soda things. So, it’s a mixed bag but ultimately good. The flavor is also fairly sweet, but it has some bite. There’s more to it than I was expecting. The roasted malt flavor is rich and full, a beer that tastes bigger than its size. Feel is smooth with a mildly acrid finish.

big surprise here...although it was so filling, I could barely finish my pint! This was quite possibly their best, and the place was great, so that's high praise. when i got this thick black liquid, one whiff, and i wanted to get my fork. 7%, really?! i really thought i'd need to chew it. Big roasted coffee aroma, with roasted grain and chocolate too. huge taste as well, with a massive thick and smooth body, and lingering finish. impressive beer.
