Due South Caramel Cream Ale– ABV=5.0% OG=1.049 IBU=18 -The nice caramel notes will bring to mind memories from your childhood of savoring soft caramel candies. This creamy ale is dry-hopped with vanilla to give it a pleasing, round finish. No extracts of any kind are used in this beer. Don't be surprised if you notice small pieces of vanilla in the beige foamy head; we only use the real deal - fresh, whole vanilla beans. Interesting Fact: The unforgettable flavor of this beer is the result of 100's of test brews to refine the recipe and method. Head brewer and brewery owner, Mike Halker, brewed this beer for his wife Jodi who, for 2 years, kept saying "almost" until he worked his magic and made it the beer it is today.     I probably would not have sampled, but my buddy choose this for his growler. Was a bit too sweet for me. There was a nice caramel color to it versus some other cream ales that I tried. Don't really care too much for the style, and summer is almost over. Smooth and refreshing though, just not my cup of tea. UPDATED 8/5/2014: This style is growing on me. Moved appearance up a point. Flavor not quite an 8, otherwise it would be rated up about 2 more points. They just started distributing this in cans. Solid local FL beer that is good for all seasons here.

    A new brewery in a warehouse. Go figure. This one a deep amber colored beer with a big frothy textured white head rising robustly above. Good hang time. Settles into a thin ringlet. Vanilla on the nose and in the aftertaste. Sweet caramel balanced by a grasiness. Full bodied and smooth.
