Looking for a beer with a bit lighter alcohol content? (What? Why? Just kidding! We all enjoy a great-tasting beer with less alcohol so we can drink A LOT MORE of it!) Our brewers created Alpha Session Ale with the same big flavors as an IPA, but lower alcohol content… so you can drink more of them. I’m definitely not complaining about that... Hopped with Simcoe, Citra and CTZ.

22oz bomber pours crystal clear gold with somewhat weak white head. The aroma offers up tangelo and lime mixed with spicy dank hops and then a touch of sweet maltiness. Smells yummy. The taste is big on flavor and follows suit with grapefruit and tangelo and some lime mixing together with and even level of hop flavor and hop bitterness.3.8% ABV, what? Could that be right? Behind the hops is a wafer thin ring of malt sweetness. Great refreshing and yet bold flavored summer brew. Dandy!

Not a total surprise, as I expect good stuff from Drake's, but holy hell this was good! All the wonderful hop goodness without any residual sugar or alcohol to "get in the way". What surprised me the most about this beer was that I loved the feel. Not watery at all, and the beer just dances on your tongue. Wonderful citrus and grapefruit aroma, with a hint of pine, with a long lingering bitter finish. Right up there with the Stone session pale as one o the best low abv beers I've had.

Alpha Session Sampled on 5/26/12. This American Pale Ale pours a orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is cereal, citrus and floral. A medium to light bodied American Pale Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are citrusy and grapefruity. Lots and lots of hop flavor and bitterness. Nice carbonation. Lots of flavor. Good malts and nice hops and only 3.8% alcohol. A great session ale. Nice summer beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
