Wonderfully balanced "session beer" in the ESB style. A combination of 75 L and 120 L caramel malts give this ale a nice color, maltiness and body. This is then balanced and complimented in the kettle with Magnum hops which contribute its clean but detectable bitterness. Mt. Hood hops are then added for a lingering hop flavor and aroma. We ferment our bitter with Dick's house yeast for that classic English ale flavor

This ESB pours a deep amber color from a 12 oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel, citrus and earthy. A medium bodied ESB/bitter. Malts are caramel and fruity. Hops are citrusy and grapefruity. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Strong malt flavor throughout. Very drinkable session ale. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Hazy copper color, small head. Aroma of sweet caramel and a deep hop smell. I taste bread and citrus, toasted notes with a slightly floral juicy finish. Moderate bitterness is pleasant. An adequate body and smoothness for the style. Solid brew, tastes good

Okay, either I picked up a different bottle from what others here have found or my tastes are *completely* different. My second sample of this fine brewery. God I love living in the PNW! Two for two so far! Pours a mahogany color with a very nice white head that lasts a long time giving itself up only for the beautiful lacind down the sides of the glass. Smells of wonderful hops combined with delightful malt. And what an awesome bitter this is. Dick's website proclaims this to be made in the classic ESB style and it's right on target. Nicely hopped without being over-the-top, it's just bitter enough to offset the maltiness. It's cool that for all the hop sensation present in this fine beer, it honestly doesn't seem overly hopped or too bitter - and no Cascade hops are present, for those of you who don't like the citrus. Mouthfeel is superb. Very full without being overly carbonated and has a great mineral feel to it. Drinkability is perfect as IMO this is as good as an ESB gets. I'll *definately* be buying more of this.

This beer pours a deep clear ambery reddish color with a medium soapy white head and a moderate degree of lacing. The aroma is fairly thin, with hints of malts, pine cones and twigs, but relatively mild..also a citrus note or two. The flavor is medium bodied, mildly tongue coating and mildly bitter. Pine cones, hops and citrus dominate with subtle notes of twig, oak, and broccolli??? Well..it was there.. i swear..some sort of green vegetable. Syrupy sticky mouthfeel, cotton mouth dry finish. Prickly carbonation and pine feeling.... sort of non memorable....
