Clear light yellow with quickly dissapearing white foam ring. Aroma us weak hoppy, some citrus. Taste is bittersweet, some bitter tones. Aftertaste is short lasting, little bitter. (Velp 201303)

Another run of the mill golden ales from Britain that really offers nothing special. A pale golden pour, with no discernable head. Aroma was uninviting as it was way too grainy. Flavour was mild and muted, not a lot in the way of complexity.

The beer poured a translucent medium gold colour with a this white head. The aroma was floral hops, grainy malt, and light fruit. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is grainy malt and orange peel bitterness finishes it off.

500ml bottle. Poured a hazed light gold ale in the glass. Small creany white cap reduces to a lacing surface foam. Soft carbonation. Aroma of cereal notes over earthy-woody hopping and some fruityness...nice aroma. Flavor has the earthyness carry into the palate, malty but crisp.....nice dryness and light bittering in the finish. I wish ESBs were crafted as well as this "golden ale". Very refreshing and satisfying as well.

My first Dark Star experience, found at the LCBO in a 500ml brown bottle. Pours a clean golden colour with a frothy white head, decent retention and soapy lace. Aromas of sweet fruits (oranges, peaches) mixed with grain and honey. The taste is not as sweet, thankful. Quite mild actually, with a nice blend of biscuit malt and hops. Not too bitter and not long lasting. Just refreshing, but not a swill. A pretty good overall well-brewed golden ale.

Cask@Akkurat. Yellowish golden colour, small white fluffy head. Aroma is fruity hops, some nectar and quite sweet malts as well. Flavour is quite much the same with the fruityness being the most dominating element. Mild dry bitterness in the finish.

500 ml brown bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.8%. Golden colour, like a pils, some chill haze. Decent white head, nice lacing. Aroma has first strong notes of tropical fruits (aromatic hops), then the aroma subsides and I get moderate notes of honey and flowers. Moderate carbonation, soft moutheel. Flavour has first some moderate fruity notes, then a gentle hoppy bitterness takes you by the hand and leads you through the finish and aftertaste. The beer is light bodied, and is indeed one for those hot summer days - but I quite enjoyed it in the dead of December too. I imagine this would be a good "introduction ale" for lager louts - the first step into the world of better ales, so to speak.

Golden with a light haze. Small whiyte head. Rather weak aroma of grape peels, lemon and honey. Strong and hoppy flavour of grapefruit. lemon, honey and toffee. Soft and elastic maltprofile with a creamy palate. Dry hoppy and grapefruity finish with hints of grape-peels.

Cask handpump at Fanny’s Ale House, Saltaire. Golden yellow with a big, creamy white head, there ’till the end. Aroms is hoppy and fruity. Nice citrusy and hoppy flavour with a light hoppy bitter finish. Nice beer.
