Pours a dark coppery mahogany with a lot of sediment and a decent pale tan head. Aroma is fruity and a little sweet with a malty underpinning. Fruity, slightly woody flavor has a malty undertone and a hint of caramel. Texture is quite smooth and just a little tingly. Overall, worthy of at least a try.

A murky range tinged brown colored beer. Big frothy textured off white head rises robustly above. Some hang time. Not real impressive. Lacing is waek and disappears quickly. The aroma is all fruit. The taste helps break those fruits into identifiable figs, raisins. There is an alcohol bite in a light medium bodied, lightly carbonated beer. An average dubbel.

Bottle: Poured a deep copper color ale with a medium size foamy head with average retention and some lacing. Aroma of lightly fruity ester with some sweet Belgian malt. Taste is also dominated by some lightly sweet Belgian malt with some subtle fruity ester. Body is about average with good carbonation and no signs of alcohol. Not sweet enough for the style with body too watery and lacking character makes this a quite boring beer.

Hazy copper orange appearance with a puffy tan head. An aroma like sour raisin, some bread. Mouthfeel was light and bubbly, though it felt on the thin side to finish for a belgian; id consider this a dubbel....Toasted hayish tastes and some flowery and darker citrus notes. A yeasty dryness to finish. All around a nice hop flavor. Worth the 5 1/2 bucks @ Trader Joe's

Bought this one at my Trader Joes. A very yeasty nose with some apples and big malt. A bit sweet, very full bodied. I thought the finish was a bit oily and the alcohol is very prounounced. I had this with the Diabolique. Good pairing but get ready to get tanked if you finish them both in the bomber.

Overall I actually thought this was pretty good - apparently your experience may vary. Poured a decent head. Floral aroma. Nice coloring, light on the lacing. I found a variety of tastes, and overall it is very smooth and very drinkable. I'm not jumping up and down raving, but this is not swill either.

I found this on sale at my local Trader Joes outlet. And while I don't normally read reviews before going beer shopping, I do kinda wish that I read up on this particular beer before dropping $5.99 on this....

Now, this is not really all that horrible, really. I find myself thinking that if this was somebody's homebrew, I would give it a Thumb's Up, and then quietly move onto something a bit more assertive a bit later. But seeing that I'm kinda stuck with a full 750mL bottle of this, I do kinda have to make the best of this, I suppose.

Slightly redder than the standard Belgian Dubbel -- and a bit "breadier" than ussual in the nose. And these aren't really negative things, all told.

But where this beer starts to break down is right where it really counts -- that is to say, the flavor profile. Pretty freakin' lacking, IMHO. The term "one-dimensional" seems to fit this beer to a tee, I'm sorry to say. Hints of malt and estery highlights, but in no way complex in the ussual sense of the word.

By the end of the bottle, this is little more than 7%ABV Brown Ale -- with hints of complexity gone with the aroma and the fleeting head of foam.

Have had some mixed results with the various (semi-contract?) brewed offerings from the "De Proefbrouwerij (b.v.b.a Andelot) / Andelot Proefbrouwerij"...., and this beer has very little to really say for itself, IMO....

Medium brown amber color, slightly hazy. Medium to large sized beige head. Aroma is malty, sweet, yeasty and fruity. Touch of candi sugar. A medium bodied Belgian ale. Malts are fruity, spicy and sweet. A touch bitter, and perhaps a little metallic? Nice soft carbonation. Nice drinkable beer. Finishes with a very pleasant dry fruitiness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is dry and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

In appearance the beer is a nice slightly hazy reddish brown with a good sized light tan coloured head. The aroma is pretty subdued, with faint hints of spices and malt. This has a strange taste to.Its spicy ,yet at the same time smooth ( the smooth gets more as the beer heats up)Coriander, tingly and a certain zesty tartness. the mouthfeel is on the thin side, but again this does improve as the beer warms up. Curous beer. i was gonna trash it at first, but it improved as it heated up. Still not one to buy again.

I found this beer at a Trader Joes in San Fran and have heard that it's only available at TJ's. Pours a medium thick head with different sized bubbles. Has a big yeasty nose followed by malt, apple, caramel. Starts sweet, full body, a little fizzy. Finish is a little slick on the tongue, ending somewhat dry. Barely any lacing. Alcohol is noticable. Came in a 750ml bottle and couldn't finish it, nor did I really care to.
