The smokiness of this robust porter brings back vivid memories of visits to the family’s sugar shack in Québec. The sweet silkiness of maple syrup, from our family’s farm in St. Marcel, is the perfect complement to the savouriness of the wood-smoked malts. This early spring seasonal is the perfect way to balance winter’s darkness with spring’s light.

At the Ottawa Brewery Market, Hintonburg Park. Pours very little head and has a dark brown appearance. Mild maple and roasted malt aromas. Nice smoky, dark roasted malt flavours with a fairly big helping of sweet malts and maple notes. Has some hints of coffee as well. Pretty smooth and easy going down. Medium retention. Lively carbonation. Pretty good.
